Description:

BCIT Marine Engineering students (Cadets) are trained in all mechanical, electrical, and structural aspects of ships; from main engines to auxiliary systems found in all ocean-going vessels ranging from super tankers to cruise ships, cargo ships, and more.

Propulsion plant operation and maintenance; Electronics and electrical technology; Ship construction; Fuel systems; Engineering science and knowledge; Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; Naval architecture Upon successful completion of the third year, you will be eligible to write the Transport Canada examination for the Fourth Class Marine Engineering Certificate of Competency.

Industrial Marine, Marine First Aid & Nautical Training Certificates

Description:

IMTARC developed curriculum in a number of key areas that have been identified as high priority by industry. Areas include: Marine Upgrading Program, Leadership Skills, Industrial Marine Estimating, and Planning and Scheduling in the Industrial Marine Sector

The Camosun Coastal Centre is working with the Coast Salish Employment and Training Society (CSETS) who has partnered with the Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society (ACCESS) to deliver the Aboriginal Marine Training and Employment Partnership (AMTEP). The goal of the AMTEP program is to provide Aboriginal people with certified training leading to employment in the Marine Industry.

Marine Training

Description:

NIC provides industry-approved training for both experienced and emerging mariners. Learn boat safety, hazards, emergency response, survival and rescue and more. Prepare to write the certification exams from Transport Canada, Industry Canada and Canadian Power Squadron.

Description:

WMI Transport Canada’s accredited marine courses and programs lead to a wide selection of Certificates of Competency and Proficiency. Programs include Marine Emergency Duties, Bridge Watch Programs, Master Limited 60T, 150T, 500T, Chief Mate 150T & 500T, Watchkeeping Mate (coastal and fishing vessel), Fishing Master 3 & 4, SVOP

Careers:

Various positions within the Marine industry – Coast Guard, a fishing vessel, barge, or tugboat, Parks Canada, BC Ferries, Seaspan and many other commercial organisations.
